Features

Max Trackers Allowed. The maximum number of ValuWaste Tracker data collection terminals which may be used with this edition of ValuWaste Advantage software.

Max # of Food Types. The maximum number of different food types (i.e. raw or prepared foods) which may be recorded by the ValuWaste Tracker and reported using ValuWaste Advantage software.

Seat Licenses The number of ValuWaste Advantage "seats" which are included with each edition. Each seat may be installed on one PC but can be used by multiple staff members on that PC

Report Creation - Unlimited. There is no limit to the number of reports which may be created using the built-in report templates. Each template may be customized with specialized filters to produce a unique report, which may then be stored for recurring use.

Auto Baselines. ValuWaste Advantage automatically calculates a "baseline" food waste level using either the average or maximum observed food waste during the start-up tracking period. Users may customize baselines to change the method of calculation, the period used, or to specify a specific baseline if one already exists.

Waste Equivalency Metrics. ValuWaste Advantage reports on food waste data in dollars and pounds, while also presenting a report on non-traditional weight or economic metrics, such as the number of elephants discarded each year (measured by weight) or the number of big screen TV's (measured by dollars). Waste equivalencies may be customized.

Create Report Collections. Any saved report may be grouped into a "Report Collection" with other reports. This collection may be printed, saved as a PDF, or viewed on the screen with the press of a single button. This features streamlines reporting by storing groups of similar reports together. For example, common collections would include Weekly Reports, Monthly Reports, and Quarterly Reports. Each would contain a different group of saved reports.

Weekly Task Lists. ValuWaste Advantage recommends a list of common tasks to perform each week, including importing data, printing reports, and holding team meetings. Task lists prompt these actions and help users see which items have been completed each week and which still need action.

Create Recurring Transactions. Some items are too heavy or difficult to bring to the ValuWaste Tracker, such as brewed coffee. Create a "recurring transaction" which memorizes the weight for these items and there is no need to bring the item to the scale. Instead, select a "recurring transaction" from a list and enter the quantity of the item (gallons, pans, counts) and it will be recorded.

Staff Meeting Scripts. LeanPath recommends all ValuWaste customers establish a Stop Waste Action Team™ (SWAT). This group of front-line employees meets weekly for a short review of waste data and to set goals for the improvement. To make these team meetings fast and easy, ValuWaste Advantage produces a script for each meeting which includes key data points from the most recent week. This eliminates the need for a manager to invest time preparing for the meeting.

Track Post-Consumer Waste. Most ValuWaste users focus primarily on pre-consumer food waste. However, many see value in tracking post-consumer food waste ("plate waste") on a periodic basis. This feature allows for pre-consumer and post-consumer data to be tracked in the same database while being reported separately. It provides for an optional question on the ValuWaste Tracker which enables tagging each entry as either "pre-consumer" or "post-consumer" waste. This feature also includes a category of "intermediate waste" which can be used to track overproduction from a particular meal period which may be used later, food we call "not yet waste."

Food Cost Adjustments
. ValuWaste typically assigns a cost to each food waste transaction based on the weight of the item (less the tare weight of its container) multiplied by the cost of the item per pound. Food Cost Adjustments allows for an additional adjustment calculation: an adjustment to the food cost based on the reason the item was discarded. For example, if an operator purchases a watermelon for $1 per pound and then trims off the rind, the rind has little to no remaining value. When the operator records "watermelon" waste due to the reason "trim waste" the software can discount the price per pound to reflect this value change. However, if the operator discarded cut "watermelon" due to "spoilage," the discount would not apply.

Includes WasteLOGGER
. WasteLOGGER is a separate LeanPath software product which allows operators to track food waste using paper log sheets combined with powerful reporting. WasteLOGGER is designed for lower volume and remote operations with a limited number of waste transactions per day (~10-20 transactions). This allows ValuWaste Advantage users to include data from smaller satellite operations without deploying ValuWaste Trackers to each of those points of service.

Financial Reports. ValuWaste Advantage provides an interface for users to enter monthly financial data including sales, meal count, food purchases/consumption as well as budgeted figures for each of these items. The software provides reports comparing waste to these metrics, including "food waste as a percentage of food purchases" and variances to budget.

Track by Disposition. Adds a food waste tracking dimension: where was this food waste disposed? Enables categorization of food that entered the garbage, garbage disposal, pulper, compost bin, or was donated. By tracking the disposition of each item, ValuWaste Advantage can provide report showing total donations (including by receiving agency) to aid in tax record-keeping. It can also be used to validate compost hauling bills.

Track by Daypart. Adds a food waste tracking dimension: which daypart produced this food waste? Although every food waste transaction has its own unique date and time stamp, food is not always discarded during the meal period when it was created. The daypart dimension allows assignment of waste to specific meal periods.

Track by Station/Source. Adds a food waste tracking dimension: where did this food waste originate? This is very useful in multi-service facilities, such as those with both retail and catering services. It also provides great utility in cafe environments by grouping food waste according to concept or platform (e.g. deli, salad bar, grill, etc.). ValuWaste Advantage produces "Close-up" reports for each Station/Source showing the most waste foods in that area, most common loss reasons, and recent trends for the area.

Track by Catering Event. Adds a food waste tracking dimension: which catering event order and catering client was associated with this food waste? Allows each waste transaction to be connected to a numeric Event Order Number. Each Event Order Number may be associated with a specific catering client, allowing for reporting of food waste at both the client and event level. This feature enables operators to identify waste trends with recurring catering clients and event types.
